Juicing Cleanse

juice detox
Detoxes and cleanses are a great way to kickstart your health and to create some healthy lifestyle habits!
Don't be scared by the words DETOX and CLEANSE! Yes there are some pretty hardcore ones out there but I am not recommending anything like that to you. I want this cleanse to be one that you can realistically stick to and to also pick up some of the habits to continue on once the cleanse is done.

THE JUICE CLEANSE

-optional 3, 5, 7 day just juice
-juicing for all meals and snacks plus any additional
-optional juicing for all day and then having a plant based dinner
-unlimited water and herbal teas
-optional clear veggie broth along with juices
-optional raw meals along with juices

Benefits of chlorophyll and juicing 'profiles' of many vegetables.

Lifestyle Habits:

-Start off every morning with lemon water (half a lemon squeezed into room temperature water) to jumpstart the cleansing process.
-Set a positive affirmation daily. This will come in handy to reaffirm why you are doing this cleanse and that you can in fact DO it. Repeat your affirmation to yourself when you get cravings or urges.
-Record in a journal daily (in the morning or before bed) how you are feeling, any struggles, and some words of encouragement. This will be a great source for you to read when you need a moral boost.
-Dry brush daily to help facilitate the release of toxins through the skin (the largest organ) and to help stimulate the lymphatic system which also aids in detoxing.
-Get sweating! Break a sweat daily (walking, running, dancing, yoga) in order to release toxins.
-Relax! Take time to chill in the form of a bath (with epsom salts and/or lavender oil), read a book, meditate.
-Sleep! Aim for 6-9 hours of sleep each night. Your body needs time to rest up from all of the hard work it is doing.
-Eliminate sugar, caffeine, and alcohol (all acidic and stressors on your body).

Why a Juice Cleanse?

Juicing aids the liver in the detoxification process. Juicing is a great way to feed your body and all your cells immediate nutrition without the body having to work to digest any food. Juices consisting mostly of vegetables will help to energize and to alkalinize your body.
Did you know that disease/inflammation (Cancer!) thrives in acidic environments and that most people are acidic due to the foods we eat and the environment around us?! This should immediately make you want to shift to a more alkaline state, and we can do that with a juice cleanse, adapting these Lifestyle Habits and then aiming towards a more plant based diet once the cleanse is done.
Benefits of a Juice Cleanse:

~Energizing! Due to the quick shot of enzymes, minerals, nutrients, and vitamins straight to your cells you will feel alive and energized and you will say good-bye to your acidic coffee forever!
~Beautifying! All of the vitamins in the veggies and fruits will give you cleaner more glowing skin and thicker shinier hair! BONUS!
~Weight loss! Obviously this isn't the main goal, just kind of a side perk. And of course if you finish your cleanse and go right back to bad eating habits then the weight will come right back on those hips and buns. The key is to eat light and plant based once you are finished the cleanse, along with the Lifestyle Habits and a low/no sugar diet your weight will be maintained.

I have a ton of recipes on my recipe page!

Juicing is quick and easy!

Remember:

-Find a time to start your cleanse when you can commit to being at home for all of your meals.
-3 veggies to 1 fruit is a good ratio.
-Try adding fresh ginger, parsley, cilantro, mint, spirulina, chlorella.
-Seasonal, organic, local produce.
-Drink fresh within 20 minutes or store in a glass jar with a lid for a few hours. I like to make a big batch and store for later so I don't have to clean my juicer again.
